Proper Care Instructions for Yoga Mats

• Maintaining the Quality of Your Yoga Mat

Quality yoga mats require diligent care to ensure longevity and optimal performance. Particularly sensitive to oil, the fine pores on the surface of PU yoga mats make them susceptible to staining, especially from bodily oils. To mitigate contamination, avoid contact with oily substances. Prior to each use, ensure your hands and feet are clean and free from oils.

• Cleaning Guidelines

When cleaning your yoga mat, refrain from using products containing tea tree oil or any oil-based ingredients, as they may compromise the integrity of the mat. Instead, prepare a basin of water with a small amount of detergent. Dampen a cloth, wring out excess moisture, and gently wipe the surface of the mat. Avoid soaking the mat to prevent liquid residue.

• Ventilation

Following cleaning or use, allow the mat to air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area. Exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided, as PU yoga mats are crafted from natural rubber and can be adversely affected by prolonged sun exposure.

• Storage Recommendations

When storing your yoga mat, roll it with the side bearing the pattern facing outward to prevent creasing. Avoid folding the PU sides together, as this may lead to adhesion issues over time.

• Odor Management

Upon initial use, you may notice a faint odor emanating from the natural rubber. Rest assured, this is inherent to the material and is environmentally friendly and harmless. The scent will gradually dissipate with regular use. For those sensitive to odors, allowing the mat to air out flat for a period of time can help accelerate this process.

• Temperature Considerations

During colder months, refrain from placing the mat near heat sources such as heated floors or stoves for extended periods. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can accelerate the aging process of the rubber, potentially leading to adhesion problems and impacting its performance.

• By adhering to these care instructions, you can ensure that your PU yoga mat remains in optimal condition, providing you with a supportive and hygienic surface for your practice.

There will be a little smell when you use it for the first time, but it is very healthy, it is the smell of natural rubber. It will disappear within 1-2 days. If you are sensitive to the smell, wipe it with a damp cloth and place it in a ventilated and cool place.
